Liverpool Golf Club – Lansvale – Championship Golf Course is a private golf club formed in 1939 by its founding members. Occupying the site of the former Prospect Golf Club and comprising nine holes, this new layout was created with the assistance of many experienced golfers who were active members of Prospect during the years 1935-9. The Club also benefited from some vital strategic investors, including Walter Judd, Jack Hill and Bill Lunn. With World War II looming, construction was completed in 1940 and the first competition was held soon after when a fourball was declared open by Harold Clapham of Bankstown. It reopened in 1946 as a nine-hole layout with only two permanent greens in play. During 1956/7, Arthur James, a local contractor, had prepared four new gardens and it reopened for play during March 1958 as an 18 hole course. The Clubhouse was built in 1962 with dining facilities in 1974 and 1996. A Centenary Competition was held in 1999 and then it was decided to develop a practice range. In 2000, the Clubhouse underwent a major refurbishment of the publican’s floor area and building conference facilities on the upstairs level – all designed to meet modern needs and expectations. Liverpool competed well at both state and national.
